City of Surrey drop-in badminton

The City’s Fall 2026 gym drop-in schedule runs from September 8 to December 18, 2026, and lists badminton at these venues:

Days and times differ at every centre, so open the PDF or the City’s drop-in schedules page for your nearest one.

Who each session is for. According to the City’s sport programs page, 13+ sessions are open to anyone 13 or older at any level, adult sessions are 19+, and youth sessions are for ages 13 to 18. Family sessions are for children 6 to 18 with one or two parents playing, and children-with-adult sessions are for ages 6 to 12; both need at least four people per court, so pairs may be grouped with others. The 55+ sessions (“Seniors Services”) are for experienced players and need a Seniors Services membership. Adult and 13+ sessions are doubles with players rotating between courts.

Booking. Most drop-ins open for registration 72 hours ahead. Reserve online through Surrey activities registration, by phone at 604-501-5100 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) or at any recreation centre. If a session is full, join the waitlist: turning up doesn’t guarantee a spot. Check in at the front desk, and arrive on time: a reserved spot is given away 10 minutes after the start. If you can’t go, withdraw so someone else can play.

Prices. The fall 2026 schedule lists a single drop-in visit at $8.00 for adults 19–59, $4.00 for youth 13–18 and children, $6.00 for students and seniors 60–69, and $2.50 for 70+. A 10-visit pass costs $72.00 for adults, and the City’s Recreation Pass (from $81.75 a month for adults) covers all drop-ins at its pools, arenas, gyms and fitness centres.

What to bring. Your own racquet and shuttles (limited equipment may be available to borrow), proper sport shoes, and a non-breakable water bottle with a lid. No food in the gym, and no spectators.

Smash Champs

Smash Champs, at 101-9755 190 Street, is a dedicated badminton centre with a sprung floor and BWF-certified court mats, a pro shop with stringing and equipment rentals, and a fitness gym. The courts are open 10 am to 11 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 11 pm on weekends and holidays.

Its drop-in sessions are priced per hour:

The site asks you to sign up for a session online and has a separate page to reserve a court. Session times and court rental prices aren’t printed on the pages we checked, so look at the booking page before you go.

Surrey Badminton Club

Surrey Badminton Club, at 19025 52 Avenue, is a badminton centre open 10 am to 11 pm Monday to Friday and 7 am to 11 pm on weekends. It runs group lessons (the fall 2026 term runs September 8 to December 18), private lessons and seasonal camps. For a court rental, email bookings@surreybadmintonclub.com or call (778) 776-1890; the registration page doesn’t list rental or lesson prices, so ask when you book.

Clubs in South Surrey and White Rock

Two volunteer-run clubs play in South Surrey school gyms. Their details come from their listings in the Badminton BC club directory:

Can you rent a badminton court by the hour?

Yes, at the private centres. City of Surrey drop-ins are booked per person, but Surrey Badminton Club takes court rentals by email or phone, and Smash Champs has an online court reservation page. Neither lists a rental price online. If you’re in east Abbotsford or Langley, our Abbotsford guide covers gym rentals and the nearest single-court rental at Timms Community Centre.

New to the game?

Most drop-ins play doubles. Before your first session, read our beginner’s guide to how badminton is played and scored and the doubles rules, so you know where to stand and when to serve.
