Ashish Dawar

Co-founder · Tournament director

Ashish is a badminton enthusiast through and through. In 2000 he represented Haryana at junior level, playing for his state in India, and his love of the game has only grown since.

When he moved to Canada, the game found him again. He reconnected with old friends and was lucky enough to land in a group that plays regularly, and competitively.

By day he’s a senior product manager in fintech. But whatever the day has thrown at him, if his friends are on court, he’s on court too.

“No matter how tired I am, I play.”

Dr. Rakesh Arya

Co-founder · Tournament director

By day, Dr. Rakesh Arya is a dentist at Abbotsford Dental Centre on Langdon Street in Abbotsford. The rest of the time, there’s a good chance he’s holding a racket.

He doesn’t sit out tournaments. If there’s a draw, he’s in it, and he plays every match with full spirit, from the first rally to the last. Opponents get tired. He doesn’t seem to.

Age has never been part of the conversation. He simply loves the sport, and it shows every time he steps on court.

Every tournament. Every match. Full spirit.

Summit Grover

Partner

An entrepreneur by profession and a badminton player at heart, Summit was born and raised in Abbotsford and has loved the game since childhood.

No matter how busy life or business gets, he makes time for badminton, even if it means taking time away from work to compete in tournaments.

Now he’s turning that lifelong passion into something bigger: a badminton community where players can connect, compete, improve and share their love for the sport.

More than a game. A lifelong passion.

Sanjeev Grover

Partner

Sanjeev is an entrepreneur, a proud Abbotsford resident and a passionate badminton player. He has played an important role in starting and expanding Pizza 24 locations across Canada.

His love for badminton goes back to 2010, and it runs so deep that he built a badminton court at his own home. What began as a personal passion grew into hosting tournaments there, bringing players together through a shared love of the sport.

Now Sanjeev wants to take that passion beyond his home, creating tournaments and events that bring the wider badminton community together.

He built a court at home. Now he’s building a community.

Why Shuttle Storm

Built by players.

Ashish, Dr. Arya, Summit and Sanjeev know what a good tournament feels like from the player’s side: proper categories, fair draws and a schedule that keeps you on court instead of waiting around. Shuttle Storm is how they bring that to the Fraser Valley, for youth, adults and masters alike.

Come and play with them at Shuttle Storm ’26 on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at the UFV North Gym in Abbotsford.
